Invasion (2021– )

*Invasion*, created by Simon Kinberg and David Weil, premiered on Apple TV+ in 2021^[1]. It deliberately sidesteps the usual invasion-movie playbook: there is no giant saucer descending in the opening minutes. Instead the camera is handed to unconnected characters in Japan, England, the United States and Afghanistan, and we assemble the threat alongside them — out of blackouts, lost signals and strange skies. The unknown objects appear mostly as vast crystalline, shard-like structures and hard-to-name organic forms, refusing for long stretches to show a clear face. That withholding is precisely how the show talks about the *unknown*.
