Adapted by Chris Sheridan from the Dark Horse comic by Peter Hogan and Steve Parkhouse, Syfy's *Resident Alien* takes the well-worn motif of a crashed saucer and an alien hiding among us and flips it into dark comedy[1]. Alan Tudyk plays an extraterrestrial who crashes near the Colorado town of Patience, kills a local doctor and assumes his identity. Sent to wipe out humanity, he slowly grows attached while playing "Dr. Harry." The show isn't really about a menacing UFO; it uses an outsider's eyes to hold a mirror up to human absurdity — and tenderness.
