Dark Skies (1996 TV series)

Dark Skies adopts a pseudo-documentary voice, stitching flying saucers, alien abductions and government cover-ups into the real headlines of the 1960s. Idealistic young John Loengard blunders into Majestic-12 (MJ-12), a covert agency guarding a terrible secret: a parasitic alien collective known as the Hive has already burrowed into the top of Washington. Where the contemporaneous X-Files revelled in ambiguity, Dark Skies commits to an "alternate true history" — the JFK assassination, the space race and the antiwar movement are all recast as cover for a human–alien war, making conspiracy the load-bearing wall of the plot. Its premise is stated without apology: the history you think you know is a lie.^[1]
